KPI Explorer

82 KPIs from 8 data sources — unified in one searchable registry with a causal Relation Map, pre-loaded country data, AI Insights, and direct links to Skari analyses. No file upload needed.

Overview

KPI Explorer is the intelligence layer connecting all Public Data labs. Instead of opening each lab separately, search all 82 indicators in one place, see how they relate causally, and jump directly to the right analysis with data pre-loaded.

82 KPIs, one registry

Indicators from Global Macro, Industry, Energy, R&D, and US Macro — unified in one searchable, filterable catalog.

Relation Map

30+ causal edges between KPIs in an interactive graph. Click any node to trace connections; click an edge to jump to analysis.

Pre-loaded country data

Real country values come bundled with the app — no CSV upload or API keys needed. Every card shows values straight away.

AI Insights

Auto-detects anomalies, accelerating trends, and cross-KPI correlations. Each insight links to a recommended analysis with data pre-loaded.

63 analyses mapped

Every KPI card links to the Skari analyses most relevant to it. One click pre-loads your data into the right lab.

Global + US scope

Toggle between 69 globally comparable KPIs and 13 US-specific indicators (FRED, BLS). Counts update instantly.

No file upload, no API keys. We fetch the data from each public source, bundle it with the app, and ship it ready to use. KPI Explorer reads that pre-loaded snapshot, so every card shows real values the moment you open it — nothing to connect or download.

Getting started

Nothing to set up — open KPI Explorer and all 82 cards already show real country values from the bundled snapshot.

1
Open KPI Explorer

Navigate to the Public Data Lab → KPI Explorer. All cards load with real country values from the bundled snapshot.

2
Browse or search

Scroll through 82 cards, use the search box, or filter by category and scope (Global / US).

3
Trace relations

Open the Relation Map to see how KPIs connect causally — click nodes and edges to explore.

4
Jump to analysis

Click any card or edge to open the recommended lab with the KPI data pre-loaded.

Pre-loaded, not live. KPI values come from a bundled snapshot that ships with the app — there are no API keys to connect and nothing to fetch. The snapshot is refreshed when the app updates.

KPI catalog

82 indicators organized into 8 categories. Use the search box for full-text search across name, definition, and subcategory. Filter by category or toggle scope to switch between Global and US KPIs.

Relation Map

An interactive causal graph showing 30+ relationships between KPIs. Trace how R&D expenditure connects to patent output, which connects to export complexity — and jump directly to the analysis that tests each link.

Causal edge types

Solid = strong causal link, dashed = moderate, dotted = weak. Each edge has a direction arrow showing which KPI influences the other.

Node click

Click any KPI node to highlight its direct connections and dim unrelated nodes. Click the background to reset.

Filter by category

Use the category filter to show only macro, energy, or R&D nodes, reducing visual clutter.

"Strong only" toggle

Shows only solid (strong) edges — useful when the full graph is too dense.

Edge → analysis

Click any edge label to jump directly to the recommended Skari analysis (e.g. VAR, Granger causality, regression) with the relevant KPI data pre-loaded.

Edge → analysis: Every causal edge in the map is linked to a specific Skari analysis (VAR, Granger causality, regression, DEA, etc.). Clicking the edge label takes you straight there with the relevant KPI data pre-loaded — no manual variable selection needed.

KPI detail panel

Click any KPI card and a detail panel opens on the right — a full profile of that indicator, not just its numbers. It pulls together the definition, the latest country values, how the KPI connects to others, and quick ways to analyze it.

Definition & formula: A plain-language description plus the exact formula used to compute it (e.g. citations / papers / field_avg).

Metadata: Unit, update frequency, source (World Bank, OpenAlex, UNIDO, …), and direction — whether higher or lower is better.

Latest values: Most recent value for priority countries (Korea, US, Germany, China, …) with the year and the year-over-year change or a “stable” marker.

KPI relationships: What this KPI affects and what influences it, each tagged strong / moderate, with a link to open the Relation Map.

Related KPIs: Chips linking to closely connected indicators.

Linked platforms: Shortcuts to the labs that use this KPI — Global Industry, Korea R&D, Global Macro, and so on.

Recommended analysis: One-tap buttons (Trend, Regression, Network, DEA, …) to jump straight into analyzing it.

AI Insights

The AI Insights tab automatically surfaces patterns across the pre-loaded KPI data — anomalies, accelerating trends, and cross-KPI correlations. Each insight is tagged with a method type and links to a recommended analysis.

Insight types

Anomaly

A KPI is showing an unusually large deviation from its historical trend or from peer country values.

Acceleration

A KPI is growing or declining faster than its historical rate — an early signal of structural change.

Correlation

Two KPIs are moving together or diverging in a statistically notable way — suggests a potential causal investigation.

Forecast

A short-term projection based on the KPI's trend. Flagged when the projection diverges significantly from consensus.

One click to analysis: Each insight card has a button linking to the recommended Skari method (DEA, VAR, trend decomposition, etc.) with the relevant data pre-loaded. You don't need to select variables manually.

Jump to analysis

63 Skari analyses are mapped to KPI Explorer. Every KPI card shows analysis tags — click any tag to jump straight into the analysis with your data pre-loaded.

Find a KPI

Search or browse to find the indicator you want to investigate.

See analysis tags

Each KPI card shows one or more analysis tags (e.g. "VAR", "DEA", "Regression"). These are the recommended methods for that indicator.

Click a tag

Click the analysis tag or the "Open in Lab" button on the card. You are taken to the relevant lab with the KPI data pre-loaded.

Run immediately

Variables are pre-mapped. Check the setup, adjust settings if needed, and click Run. No manual upload required.
